RAi Residency is a 12 week program, aiming to provide opportunities for artists, curators, and theorists. To develop their practice in a studio environment, network, connect and expand their oeuvre through collaborations with communities and institutions.

RAi Residency is open to 4 residents at a time, 3 artists and 1 curator/theorist

We provide practitioners with a platform to incubate their ideas, opportunities for research, studio visits, workshops, and opportunities to present in colleges and other creative venues. The residency makes space for arts professionals and cultural practitioners to explore and address contexts other than their own and enrich their creative practice.

RAi also provides Residency Awards for selected individuals based on applications announced and reviewed intermittently. The awardees receive a fully funded residency program participation.

The inaugural RAi Residency Cohort spent 12 transformative weeks fully immersed in the rich artistic and cultural fabric of the UAE. Over the span of three months, the artists worked in state-of-the-art studios, reflecting deeply on their individual practices while pushing the boundaries of their work through bold experiments with mediums and materials at the cutting-edge fab labs in M.A.K.E, MiZa. This period of creative exploration was complemented by rich interactions with curators and cultural practitioners, as well as insightful studio visits with established artists. The cohort also gained contextual understanding through visits to significant cultural sites, grounding their work in the local heritage and contemporary art scene. Beyond the studio, the residency fostered a strong sense of community, with participants forming lasting bonds through shared experiences, collaborative efforts, and constant exchange of ideas, enriching their journey both professionally and personally.
